This past summer, on August 6th 2016, I helped my brother Carter throw his annual Feed The Hood cookout at Riverbank State Park in Harlem, NYC.
Every year Carter buys a ton of food and provides free food to anyone who is in which ever park he has the cookout. This past one, we took it a step further and included bookbags with school supplies for kids and free t-shirts for guests, along with various food selections and tasty treats.
Despite the weather (a whole 5 minutes of rain) we were prepared with a huge tent for guests to stand under while the short shower passed over. Once that was finished, we continued to feast and fellowship.
We will be throwing one this summer in 2017. The date we’re shooting for is the first Saturday in August. If you would like to help out in anyway, please feel free to contact me via comments or email (which can be found in the “Contact” section).
Here are some pictures from the event:
The first time I went to a bar, I was nervous and overwhelmed. Not because of the people, which usually makes me nervous (intro/omnivert, represent!) but because everyone was drinking drinks and I had no idea what they were called.
When the bartender asked me what I wanted, time stood still and I just randomly said “Rum & Coke.”
Fast-forward to Saturday when I was introduced to the owners of Cuba Libre USA’s genius drink of Rum & Cola in a can. It took me back to when I used to bar hop with friends and order the same drink over and over because at one point, it was all I knew.
Laughs were had. I showed them my website, they liked it.
We exchanged information and they sent me home with a case of their product. What a Saturday!
Police and FBI are searching for a missing boy in Folcroft, PA. 11 year old Laquan Lattimore was last seen riding his bike on August 3rd, 2015 around 7pm in the Sharon Hill section of Folcroft, PA. Lattimore was wearing a blue and white striped shirt, blue jeans and black puma sneakers. The police have not issued an amber alert because he was not seen being abducted. Lattimore has been missing for more than 36 hours. If anyone has any information please contact the Folcroft Police or Towanan Zellars (267)632-6287
Update: Laquan Lattimore’s body was found in Darby Creek. The cause of death has been ruled a drowning. My condolences go out to his family.
To all of my fellow henny drinkers… If you want to learn about the lineage of Hennessy, from testers to bottle design, check out the Hennessy 250 Tour. With Hennessy being my preferred social drink, It made enough sense for me to check out this exhibit. The third and last US stop was held at Lincoln Center in New York City through July 10th. I found it to be very interesting. The only bad part was I wished the tour wasn’t so short. I imagine the tour guides knew there would be a lot of traffic at this exhibit as slots were completely booked. If you weren’t able to make it, here are some pictures I got. Enjoy responsibly.
